GDEG: the geospatial dimensions of European governance: evaluation and enhancement

Final Activity and Management Report Summary - GEODEG (GDEG: The geospatial dimensions of european governance: evaluation and enhancement)

The project's objectives to develop an understanding of the geographic dimensions of European governance, as modified, were reached. Above all, research showed the benefit of merging quantitative and qualitative research techniques to understand the underlying historical roots of governance. Geographic dimensions of governance involve the past. The complexity of the connections between present activities of governance and historical contingencies requires a multi-facetted approach to data acquisition and analysis. Through broad and focussed research designs in Poland the research was able to identify civil society continuities that are crucial in local government stability.
