Providing a Grid-compliant access to and reasoning with OWL ontologies

Objective

The WS-DAIOnt-OWL project aims to create a standard specification of the interface to be used to access OWL ontologies in Semantic Grid applications. We will develop two alternative implementations of this specification, based on existing semantic Web interfaces (i.e. Jena, Sesame, etc.), and we will integrate the G-Pellet reasoning service in them so that an integrated Grid-aware reasoning support is provided to these implementations. During the execution of the project we will participate in the OGF standardisation process of WS-DAIOnt-OWL in a similar way as WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S) is being done, and applying the lessons learned from this effort. This standard specification and its implementations will contribute to the actual realization of the Semantic Grid vision.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
