Controlled thermonuclear fusion. Association Euratom/CIEMAT

Objectif

Each stage and each objective of the scientific programme to be implemented by the Fusion Unit of the Euratom/Ciemat Fusion Association will fit in the European Community's Fusion Programme. The principal feature of the Association programme will be its contribution in areas and lines of research which, although of great interest to the Community programme, have not yet been fully developed. Also included will be activities complementary to the main line of research in that programme. Work will be focused mainly on the area of advanced Stellarators and comprise the detailed design and construction of the TJ-II flexible heliac, while activities relating to Tokamaks will be undertaken with the TJ-I, a small device of that type.

History of Association

The Association EURATOM/CIEMAT was established on January 1, 1986.

- Design, construction and development of flexible heliac TJ-II.
- Development of tokamak TJ-I.
- Construction and development of torsatron TJ-I-U.
- Theoretical studies.
- Participation in technological programme and NET.
- Collaboration with JET.
