Objective The transcription factor NF-kB regulates the expression of many genes that are involved in cell survival, proliferation and apoptosis. NF-kB is expressed in many cell types in the central nervous system (CNS) and many neuronal diseases are thought to involve an aberrant NF-kB regulation and apoptosis. The underlying molecular mechanisms, however, are still unclear.
