Objective
EMF-PACE aims to improve the understanding and the coordination of the results of the research activities related to the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, considering also any potential carcinogenic risk linked with exposure to extremely low frequency fields. The EMF-PACE Consortium involves all the coordinators of the EU (FP5) funded active projects, and of the main research projects at European national level (Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, UK), and of other international activities, such as the WHO EMF project and COST Action 281, associations of industries and manufactures, regulatory bodies, scientific associations, and trade union associations. EMF-PACE aims to collate research results from the projects and activities to provide policy relevant interpretation and advice for the facilitation of policy development options by the EU and other bodies. The main objectives of EMF-PACE can be summarized as follows: 1. Coordination, and collation of the results of the studies, both considering research activities based on laboratory studies (ELF, RF, Intermediate Frequencies, THz, Interaction Mechanisms and Medical Applications) and on epidemiological studies, also covering ELF, RF and other frequencies. 2. Support "informed decision-making" for regulation and risk communication, to harmonize the results providing information to regulatory bodies and industries and supporting informed decision-making by health and environmental authorities, consumer associations as well as individuals. 3. Monitor emerging and third generation technologies, identifying the main needs in term of coordination and studies. 4. Monitor EMF research plans in terms of objectives, endpoints, priorities, gaps, results and prospects from on¬ going research. 5. Coordinate the research activities of the European Union Area with the activities established in the Associated and Third States, with particular reference of the Ea...
