Objective
- Strategic objectives addressed: The proposed project is a transverse research addressing the strategic objective of "strengthening competitiveness" in the chapter 1.3.1.1.k "new aircraft concepts" for "aircraft operation". The proposal also addresses the strategic objective of "improving environmental impact with regard to emissions" in the field of electromagnetic compatibility. - Strategic expected achievement: Simulation and visualisation, in the vicinity of the airport and around the aircraft, of the electromagnetic (EM) impact on a selected airport and a selected aircraft due to standardized EM sources located inside the airport area and to unwilling or hostile sources outside the airport area. Observed effects: - on airport equipment, fields, buildin gs and the environment, - on aircraft reception and emission. Expected outcome: - EM environment: ambient EM field characterisation (evaluation of currently used HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Fields), environment standards, suggestions of enhanced frequenc y allocation. - EM effects: recommendations and advices with regards to safety, security (aircraft manufacturers accurate inputs for accurate modelling of equipment behaviour vis-à-vis EM) and health for airport fields, buildings and vicinity. - Proposal a bstract: The target of the proposed research is to provide a set of simulation tools enabling to compute the high- frequencies EM radiation environment of the (current and future) airport vicinity. SIRENA aims at mastering a technique for airport/aircraft diagnosis and recommending it for safe exploitation. The goal of the SIRENA research is to analyse the level of availability of contacts between the aircraft and it communication and guidance services and to assess EM impact in and around the airport. More precisely, SIRENA tackles safety matters in terms of reliability of communication, dysfunction risks, but addresses security problems too, for example: asse#
