Objective This project addresses demonstration of energy efficient technologies integrated into three high- performing cultural ECO-buildings. All the buildings will be designed using a "Whole Building Design Approach" in order to ensure the largest energy saving potential possible. The overall energy objectives of the ECO-CULTURE buildings are:- To reduce the energy consumption and C02 emission related to cooling by 75-80%- To reduce the heat consumption and related C02 emission by 35-50%- To reduce the energy for ventilation and related C02 emission by 35-50%- To use renewables! sea water, ground water and solar energy- To use intelligent control for maximised utilisation of the use technologies- To disseminate the used ECO-concepts of the high-performing cultural buildings Fields of science engineering and technologyenvironmental engineeringenergy and fuelsrenewable energysolar energy Keywords Rational use of energy Programme(s) FP6-SUSTDEV - Sustainable Development, Global Change and Ecosystems: thematic priority 6 under the Focusing and Integrating Community Research programme 2002-2006.
