Objetivo
This project proposes three conferences and two training events related to application of arrayCGH andmolecular cytogenetics in the study of function and structure of the human genome in healthy and diseasedcells. The research areas covered by these confer ences have been and are rapidly expanding and have a majorimpact on study and diagnosis of human disease. These conferences will bring together junior and seniorresearchers from various disciplines, including molecular (cyto)genetics, clinical genetics, im age analysis and bio-informatics. The conferences will also provide a venue for the growing number of companies in this field to gainearly access to key research results. The format of the meetings will be such that active participation of youngresearchers and interdisciplinary contacts will be encouraged as well as contacts with researchers from industry.Training events are aimed at providing junior researchers with hands-on practical experience in the emergingmethodology of arrayCGH and molecular cytogene tics. Objectives are to:-Stimulate the development and application of DNA microarrays and molecular cytogenetics in research andclinical diagnosis and sustain and expand the leading role of the European research groups in these fields-Establish a multidisci plinar/ community in order to enhance and formalise ongoing efforts regardingexchange of experimental data-Highlight the current needs for industrial developments and interaction with industrial partners-Improve our understanding, diagnosis and treatment o f human disease-Research into genomics and diseases of genetic origin in generalContent :-DNA microarrays: technical innovations in array development and application and validation for use in clinicalgenetics and cancer genetics-Innovative applications of molecular cytogenetics in the study and diagnosis of human disease, analysis of3D-structure of nuclear chromatin in normal #
