Objective
The overall objective of the project is to encourage and facilitate the participation of organisations from the animal science sector originated from the acceding candidate countries in the activities of the Priority 5 "Food Quality and Safety". All important animal producing candidate countries will be covered by the project, namely, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Turkey. Organisation from France, Italy and Israel, specialised in the agribusiness and highly experienced in the setting up of European research project will also participate to the project. The project has the specific following objectives: 1. To enhance the awareness of research centre and SMEs of the animal science sector originated from candidate countries on FP6 and on the 5th thematic priority 2. To stimulate the networking of researchers in the animal science sector 3. To facilitate partner searching for the creation of consortia in the animal science sector 4. To support researchers and SMEs originated from the candidate countries from the animal science sector to participate in FP6 activities, 5. To promote candidate country research competencies in the field of animal science, 6. To contribute to defining research policies and organisation of research systems in the animal science sector The project will start with the realisation of a mapping of competencies in the area of animal science sector. A detailed database and a web portal will then be developed. Three kinds of activities will start after this phases: - Working groups will be constituted to favour the networking of research organisation in the area of animal science. - Assistance to organisations that intend to participate to Integrated Project or Network of Excellence will be performed. - A study on the organisation of the research in animal science and an evaluation of the policy will be performed in each participating country.
