Objective
The objectives of the present project are to: * Develop efficient on-board Decision Support Systems (DSS) for handling of ships in degraded condition. Critical item: simulation / guidance modules for the main emergencies, and effective filtering of information such that the right information is displayed to the right level of decision makers on board.
* Develop simulation and guidance modules for mastering a ship in heavy seas in the main emergencies Loss of propulsion Damage to manoeuvring systems Collision / hull damage Grounding
* Develop efficient systems for remote monitoring, decision support and crisis assistance from on-shore command centres and vessel traffic control centres, based on direct information about technical condition of the ships systems. This includes systems for automated ship-shore transfer of condition data for the onboard systems.
* Extend on-board sensing and monitoring systems with modules and models for Technical Condition Management to detect trends and damage to critical on-board systems at a very early stage Establish tools for consequence assessment of intentional grounding Whereas present systems are focused only on measured data, the proposed development aims to integrate advanced analysis modules with the on-board tools. Modules for technical condition monitoring will analyse data to give early warning on degradation in critical systems. The guidance tools will be based on state-of-the-art ship design analysis tools ported from on-shore use to on-board computers and IT systems. Prediction and guidance modules will be stored and maintained on board, with input data continuously updated from ships sensing and monitoring systems.
