Dutch Network of Mobility Centers

Objective

DNMC will be the Dutch part of ERA-MORE, the European Commission's initiative with regard to improving the provision of proximity assistance to mobile researchers. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has appointed three bridgehead organisations that will carry out the work for DNMC: SenterNovem / EG-Liaison, VSNU and Nuffic: These organisations have been chosen because of their involvement in and experience with researcher mobility. Their scope (subjects and target group) is largely complementary. SenterNovem / EG-Liaison will coordinate the project that will have a duration of 36 months. Following the results from the mapping exercise that was carried out, several objectives and activities are identified for DNMC: 1. DNMC will bring together all expertise and experience that is available to date, but is also fragmented and not easily shared. DNMC will do so by setting up a network of Mobility Centres. Support staff working in research organisations that are not Mobility Centers (the field) will actively be involved. 2. DNMC will upgrade and train staff of mobility centres and the field to achieve professional provision of information. DNMC will do this by providing training sessions and information meetings for staff and by providing a toolkit with relevant documentation for both the staff and the researcher. 3. DNMC will gather and disseminate information that is currently difficult to find or understand. To this end, DNMC will set up a central back office, where support staff can turn to for information. The central back office will create a FAQ that will be placed on the Dutch Mobility Portal. 4. A Dutch Mobility Portal will be set up and linked with the European one, to publicize vacancies in research and to provide practical information about mobility issues (toolkit and FAQ). A PR-campaign will increase the awareness of the activities mentioned above.
