Selective synthesis of non-centrosymmetric phtalocyanines for nonlinear optics

Objective

The aim of the present project is to develop new non-centrosymmetric phthalocyanines (Pcs) with nonlinear optical properties (NLO). Structural modifications of phthalocyanines would facilitate the tailoring of their electrophysical parameters over a broad range. Therefore, appropriate phthalocyanines, subphthalocyanines and structural analogues will be designed and synthesised using selective synthetic methods. Solid phase synthesis and high pressure techniques will be tools for achieving these goals. The s tudy of the new Pc-based systems at molecular level and the control of the supramolecular architecture in condensed phases, like liquid-crystalline mesophases and organised thin films, among others, will be carried out. The phthalocyanine chromophores will be also processed on inorganic solid supports (zeolites). The NLO of the materials at both molecular and macroscopic level will be carried out. Dipolar and octupolar phthalocyanines will be targets for second harmonic generation (SHG), while appropriately substituted and metallated Pcs would present third order NLO and optical limiting properties.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
