Objective
BIP is a Specific Support Action (SSA) with an overall objective to support the IST projects involved in, and the D2 Unit in charge of, the area of "Networked audiovisual systems and home platforms". More specifically, BIP focuses on the field of Home networks and platforms.
Three main support activities are developed:
- Supporting the projects and the Unit in their involvement in 3 major events: Net-atHome2003, Net-atHome2004 and a workshop in Beijing in 2005. For the Net-atHome events, BIP will make sure that the visibility of the IST programme and of the participating projects is important, and will provide IST projects with complimentary passes and exhibition areas. For the workshop in Beijing, BIP will organise it in a way that the IST visibility and that networking opportunities for IST projects are the highest possible. BIP will also organise technical visits of local key sites to complement the Beijing workshop programme.
- Supporting the D2 Concertation mechanism, in liaison with the AVISTA project, another SSA also committed to bring a support to this mechanism. More specifically, BIP will organise, and contribute to the moderation of, the Concertation meetings of those IST projects addressing the field of Home networks and platforms. BIP will also prepare a Portfolio analysis supporting the overall documentation expected as an output of the Concertation mechanism.
- Developing active promotion and dissemination activities to ensure project promotion and therefore maximise its interest and impact, and widely disseminate its outcomes. To this end, a project web site and project documentation are developed and made available at an early stage of the project, as well as a Plan for using and disseminating knowledge, regularly updated all along the project. Project management activities include the preparation of periodical Review and assessment reports.
