Objetivo The Advanced Satellite Mobile Systems Task Force (ASMS-TF) is an independent, industry-led body, committed to the successful introduction and development of advanced (including 3G and beyond) satellite mobile communications systems and services. The TF was formed in March 2001, at the initiative of EC and ESA. Some of the goals of the TF are to coordinate ongoing and future RandD efforts and to provide inputs to entities like the EC and ESA in support of future MSS development.Thus, ASMS TF members are in a key position to foster the link between overall TF activities and EC works on related RTD. In this context, a group representing TF members, as decided by the TF Steering Panel, is presenting the MoSSA proposal to provide, within the FP6, an industry effort coordination point, with respect to all matters related to the place of satellites in mobile communication systems and applications.The project aims to contribute to the implementation of activities of the FP6, the analysis and dissemination of results and to the preparation of future activities with a view to enable the ERA to define and achieve the RTD strategic objectives as far as satellites are concerned. MoSSA places emphasis on the following support actions:-to promote and facilitate the dissemination, transfer, exploitation, assessment and broad take up of past and present FP results, by using the power of the TF members, traditionally fully engaged in RTD activities related to ASMS systems; particular emphasis will be done on promotion of active participation of FP6 projects in related standardization and regulatory bodies, as CEPT and ETSI and other satellite interest bodies like SAP as well as-to link up with other appropriate fora-to contribute to strategic objectives, notably regarding the ERA-to prepare future community RTD activities. The project is proposed for an initial period of 30 months with an intended duration of 5 years and includes 6 Work Packages.
