Objective
The project aims to bring back to Europe a researcher of world reputation in theoretical physics and to insert him into the research and teaching European network of excellence in the field.
The chair holder is Massimo Porrati, professor of Theoretical Physics at New York University since 1996. The host institution is the Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in Pisa .M.P. will do his research at the Scuola Normale in close contact with research leaders of his field in Europe.
The presence of M.P. in Europe aims to strengthen the European research network in the field to the highest degree. M. P. will teach and supervise thesis work at the graduate and post-graduate School in Physics of the Scuola Normale. The SNS is a magnet for the best students in Italy.
The project wants to reinforce an active world-class school in a significant direction of contemporary theoretical physics. The post will be equivalent to that of a full professor for a period of three years.
