High functional and innovative textiles and processes for technical applications

Objective

The overall objective of this proposal is to increase the knowledge and research level of the host organisation on innovative technical textiles beginning from fibre to the end product for various applications. The host organisation is a good background of experience in textile education, training and research activities and will gain a more competence worldwide by increasing the knowledge and research level on innovative technical textiles. The activities coordinated under this mobility programme will advan ce the fundamental knowledge of host organisation and bridge a usefull gap with the partners which are ; 1. Ghent University Department of Textiles in Belgium and 2. Stuttgart University Institute for Textile Chemistry and Chemical Fibres in Germany. These two institutions are well known all over the world and they have a great experience in the field of technical textiles. With these partners trainings , courses and several research activities will be realized. The main activities which will be co-ordinate d with these partners are briefly; * Technical woven and nowoven products and future trends in these technologies * Conductive fibres and their application possibilities in various technical products * Finishing technologies for technical application of woven and nonwoven products * Participation to the ongoing projects both in Ghent and Stuttgart Universities * Processing of PA 6.6-coPA 6.6T blends to technical fibres, characterisation of these fibres w,th respect to mechanical and structural prop erties related to the processing conditions and blending ratio. Elaboration of a method in order to determine the distribution of the polymer components across the filament diameter. Similar activities are also planned for the incoming researchers to be re cruited. In addition to the above mentioned topics micro and nano encaptulation of textile materials , and technical knitted structures will be covered in the project.
