Objective
The professor Vittorio Cittì is the Director of a Group of researchers, whose fundamental work Hypotesis also leads the politic of the Department of Philological and Historical Sciences of University of Trento: it is necessary to make a new edition of the text by aeschylus that takes into account:
1) The specificity of his language whose the ancieny scholars were awfully aware, and
2) the poetics that is drawn from the judgments made by these ancient scholars. In this aim, it will be necessary, first to make a new collation of the manuscripttradition.
This collation will only be possible thanks to a transfer of knowledge by the requested expert in paleography. This expert will have to distinguish the different historical strata of the text inside of most corrected manuscripts and to put in light the origins of the vulgate. For many years the department of trento has already been involved in two major program of reasearch collaboration with foreign universities.
These programs are essentially concerned with the re-examination of the history of the text by Aeschylus, which interests a lot of European hellenists at the moment:
1) the international doctorate, which is managed by the universities of Trento (the administrative centre), of Cagliari and of Lille3 (as soon as we hope also the EHESS in Paris and Barcelona). In these Universities a strong research team composed by Phd Students, researchers and professors as been created, in order to work on the tragical poet.
2) The team that collects all the aeschylean congectures in the aim of a New Repertory of conjectures in Aeschylus; on this work Europeans scholars collaborate under the leadership of doctor Roger D. Dawe senior fellow of the Trinity College (Cambridge), who is the best expert in the world on the manuscript and print ed tradition of Aeschylus, and under the leadership of professor Vittorio Citti, University of Trento.
