Structuring the Finnish Mobility Network (CONNECT FINLAND)

Objective

The objective of the CONNECT-Finland project is to provide up-to date practical information and personal assistance to foreign researchers coming to Finland as well as to outgoing and returning Finnish researchers. The project also aims at developing the provision of information to researchers about job opportunities and research funding possibilities within the ERA.The objectives of the project will be reached through cooperative work between the Academy of Finland and a national network of local and national units. As the Finnish Mobility Centre within ERA-More Network, the Academy will also use its own information services in reaching the goals of the project. The key partners are: Cimo, Tekes, Finnish universities and research institutes. The project will reach its goals, first by defining the units of the Finnish Mobility Network and by developing communication within the network. Second, it is planned to canvass through a survey, which needs and services foreign researchers see as most relevant when settling in Finland. Third, the project will produce a series of materials that serve as basic guidance to incoming, outgoing and returning researchers as well as to national advisory structures. Fourth, the project will produce a Finnish website dedicated to researcher mobility issues. Fifth, the project will arrange training to the members of the Finnish Mobility Network about relevant thematic entities related to researcher mobility and about the information tools provided by the project. Finally, the Academy will develop cooperation with Finnish sector-officials, in order to discuss central problems related to researcher mobility and to outline solutions thereto. The project will also raise awareness about the pan-European Researcher´s Mobility Portal in Finland. The Finnish Mobility Network will not replace existing structures in Finnish universities or research institutes, but provide better cooperation between existing units.
