Integrating the associated candidate countries into the 6th Framework Programme through networking activities and improved NCP services

Objective

This Specific Support Action is an "experiment" in establishing and testing work practices (principally networking methodologies and best practice guidelines for National Contact Points) which can lead to a better integration of the ACC scientific community into the 6th Framework Programme using the instruments designed for the thematic priorities (Integrated Projects, Specific Targeted Research projects, Networks of Excellence). It mobilises the skills of a very relevant group, the National Contact Points, whose role it is to promote the Framework Programme within their countries.

The NCP community is very familiar with the barriers met in the ACC and is ideally situated to overcome them since it has direct access to the scientific communities and to a number of networks (e.g. national research programmes, networks of liaison officers in universities, research organisations, other NCPs, IRCs etc.). The proposed activities will: actively promote the research capacity in the ACC (e.g. by inviting the ACC NCPs to information days in the Member States), analyse and reinforce the network.
