Creating ERA in Central Europe

Objective

The main objective of the project is to create synergy for virtual networking and strengthening of the European Research Area (ERA) in Central Europe by networking and twinning the best research centres, organisations and associations. Through series of specialized activities the project will help to establish new links and to start cooperation between Centres of Excellence and best research institutions in Candidate Countries and leading research centres, Networks of Competence in Member States as well as established European Networks of Excellence.

The project will provide an opportunity to exchange "best practices" and to master skills in proposal development aimed at preparation of successful proposals for new NoEs, IPs and STREPs. The workpackage activities include selection of the best research teams from CCs, in particular Centres of Excellence (INCO, NAS-2 Call - long list) and to define their profiles, analyse their strengths, weaknesses and needs. This will allow to carry out a mapping of excellence exercise defining common areas activities and RTD potential of best research centres in CCs. As a next step the "virtual networks of excellence" (VNoE) will be established integrating research activities in selected areas as a preparatory step towards further integration.

Apart from that bilateral and multilateral contacts between best research centres and VNoE in CCs and European organizations and associations, Networks of Competence, EIGs, leading research centres and industry in Member States will be established. Contacts will be facilitated by carrying out the Get in touch meetings defining the cooperation and twinning possibilities. Cooperation will be established also with existing NoEs and IPs, IRC institutes, large facilities. Specialized workshops w ill assist organisations in proposal development for new NoE, IPs and other instruments. RTD potential, in particular Centres of Excellence.
