Operation of an Innovation Relay Centre in Northern Sweden

Objective

The proposed consortium, IRC Northern Sweden, is planning to operate in the four northernmost counties of Sweden, viz. Jämtland, Västernorrland, Västerbotten and Norrbotten. The set targets and objectives have been raised, and focus almost exclusively on services to the IRC clients, and the expected result is 50 TTT-agreements by the end of the 4-year period. The consortium has shown that its hands-on approach succeeds, and with its enhanced and dedicated core team it will carry out at least 300 needs a nalyses and technology audits, help 110 companies onto the internat- ional arena, draft at least 76 business and action plans, and provide financial and IPR support services to 75 of the clients. The remaining objectives regard work with 160 transnational negotiat- ions, and providing assistance with transnational dissemination and exploitation of RTD results of Community origin to at least 30 SMEs wishing to start new operations based on an RTD result. Correct signposting, and cooperation with other region al/national and Commission-supported net- works, such as EICs, OPETs, BICs and IRE, are of importance vis-à-vis our clients, but important also to enable synergies between the actors. Services to the IRC network are allocated less total time input, but are nevertheless as important as the other objectives for strengthening and promoting the IRC network, being the most professional network dealing with technology transfer. An important factor will be to supply the IRC network with high quality technology off ers and requests, as planned in workpackage 2-1, and to disseminate 545 BBS profiles to regional clients, which also promotes the strength of the BBS. A dedicated staff taking an active role in network performance issues and participating in joint IRC acti ons shall be given high priority to ensure successful work.
