Promoting and reinforcing international RTD cooperation between Europe and Brazil and Cuba

Objective

The proposed project is designed by a consortium composed of European, Brazilian and Cuban institutions to provide practical and methodological support to the objectives of the ALCUE Meeting 2002 and INCO programme with regards to two countries of the re gion - Brazil and Cuba. That is why the main objective of the proposed project is to strengthen and widen research collaborations between the European, Brazilian and Cuban research communities in the light of the new cooperative opportunities offered by FP6 and INCO, in particular, and, by this, to contribute towards achievement of the objectives of European Research Area. The project objective will be achieved by implementing a coherent set of activities which will include the following: 1. The Study w hich will map the research landscape in Brazil and Cuba specifically in the context of research priorities with the aim to identify the most promising themes for cooperation, will gather and generalize best practices and experiences of previous INCO proj ects to improve quality of future collaborations, will find synergies between different funding schemes available for cooperation; 2. Raising awareness and dissemination strategy targeted at research communities in Europe and in Brazil and Cuba. These ac tivities will include thematic seminars in Brazil and Cuba, promotion of cooperative opportunities at the selected European events and through various channels of dissemination; 3. Sustainable and competent support to and facilitation of future research p artnerships by training the local experts in the field of innovation and project management. Successful implementation of the project will lead to increasing number of joint research projects, engaging wider research communities both in Europe and in th e partner countries, strengthening existing and creating new links between scientists and researchers.
