ECCOMAS 2004 - the fourth European Congress on computational methods in applied sciences and engineering

Objective

The objective of this specific support action is to take the opportunity of the IV European Congress in Computational Method in Engineering and Applied Sciences to be held in Jyväskylä on 24-28 July 2004 (ECCOMAS 2004) to promote and increase awareness i n the outputs and on-going developments carried out in RTD projects within the V and VI Framework Programmes in the field of computational engineering and science. New joint activities between university and industry in this field will also be promoted. More specifically the action intends to make use of the ECCOMAS Congress and Exhibition to foster the exchange of information on RTD outputs and development from ongoing and finished RTD projects between the research community and industrial users inter ested in the application of computational methods for solving practical problems in science and engineering. Particular effort will be put in the interchange of experiences between academic and industry through the ECCOMAS Exhibition and Congress. This event can be the starting point for many joint RTD activities and ventures between research groups and industry, particularly SME companies, interested in the use and development of computer based simulation method for enhanced design and productivity. Particular emphasis will be put in the promotion of this cooperation involving emerging university groups and SME industries with none or little experience in participating in RTD projects under EC support. ECCOMAS 2004 Congress will be organised in co-operation with ECCOMAS (The European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences), the University of Jyväskylä, Department of Mathematical Information Technology, the City of Jyväskylä, and Jyväskylä Congresses. The scientific programme consists of lectures by respected experts, minisymposia, contributed and poster presentations, and special technological sessions . The main interest of the Congress is in the aeronautic sector.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
