Objective The cities of Krakow and Genoa, their public transport operators, industrial partners, and research institutions have defined a common project proposal entitled ACTIV21 - "Agenda for Clean Transport In Vital cities of the 21st century". Their political leaders agree to establish a new culture for clean mobility in European cities in support of sustainable development, citizens well being and safe access for all.A substantial work programme, with both cities addressing all eight CIVITAS policy fields, has been defined by this ambitious pair of cities. A bold package of measures will be introduced:- large-scale demonstrators with a substantial impact will be implemented (e.g. road and parking pricing, extension of access-restricted zones coupled with enforcement; High Clean Mobility Corridors; freight distribution schemes and others)- the use of CNG vehicles for freight, high volume PT and flexible services are demonstrated in linked sites measures Fields of science social sciencessocial geographytransportpublic transport Programme(s) FP6-SUSTDEV - Sustainable Development, Global Change and Ecosystems: thematic priority 6 under the Focusing and Integrating Community Research programme 2002-2006.
