Objective
The CRRESCENDO consortium is composed of the two twin towns Almere (NL) and Milton Keynes (UK), together with the nev-town Viladecans (E) and Ajaccio, the medieval capital of the isle Corsica (F). The three new towns are sharing the economic and social burden of being part of the metropolitan areas of Amsterdam, London and Barcelona. Moreover Ajaccio feels the strain of a big city, accommodating a high share of social poor inhabitants.
The four cities are on the threshold of major new urban developments, with huge impacts on their economic regions. Political decisions have already been made and urban planning teams are currently unfolding their plans. Thorough community preparations have led to a committed step change in implementing sustainability safeguards in the energy infrastructure, the energy performance of buildings as well as the energy services and process management plans.
