Introduction of modern functional genomics methods

Objectif

IMBB at the AMU in Poznan, has been the most important centre for research and teaching in West/North Poland. XXIst century will be dominated by the newest biological technologies. Therefore there is a strong need to learn these new techniques. The main objective of this project is to introduce the latest functional genomics methods to IMBB to conduct research at the highest international level. There are two specific objectives.

The first includes modern methodology connected to the global transcriptome analysis, while the second deals with modern methods of proteome analysis. Both objectives require utilisation of advanced bio-informatic tools. We plan to transfer several methods: mass-scale DNA sequencing, gene silencing technology, micro-array analysis and protein interactions, functions and sub-cellular localisation techniques and computational DNA/protein data analysis. To achieve this goal we will send 11 members of IMBB of mainly more experienced researchers for training to eight leading European molecular biology centres and we will host 3 experienced and one more experienced researchers to help us in the implementation of acquired new technologies. Three workshops related to functional genomics techniques will be organised to spread our new experiences among IMBB staff and other scientific groups in Poland.

At the end of the project one final meeting will be organised with the representatives of all training partners in Poznan to evaluate the project achievements. The project will help us to reach Europe and international standards in scientific and methodological capabilities. This will create possibilities to increase our research profile and make it more attractive to potential partners in international projects. The project will force the researcher s of IMBB to visit the European laboratories, which will improve their mobility.
