Networking transport research resources, competencies and knowledge within the new boundaries of European research area

The main objective of NET-TRACK is to contribute to the realisation of the ERA in the field of surface transport by involving leading research Institutes of New Member States (NMS), Acceding Countries (AC) and Western Balkan Countries (WBC) in current Eur opean research efforts. The NET-TRACK project has two major goals: 1.It aims at exchanging experiences in the field of research management, with focus on programme and project management, between organisations from Members States (MS) and identified organ isations from NMS, AC and WBC. Specific attention will be given to the management of Framework programme related research. 2.The co-operation related to a major resource research institutions rely on when carrying out their work: the so-called 'soft infra structures'. The soft research infrastructures include datasets, libraries and informational databases or networks. This activity aims at analysing how this resource is organised and managed, exchanging best practises and laying the foundation for a poss ible harmonized use and exchange of this resource. These activities will be based on an inventory and a survey aiming at: -Identifying the potential partners in the NMS, AC and WBC countries -Analyzing the characteristics of these partner institutions, in order to better target the activities of NET-TRACK -Contacting these potential partners to verify and complete the inventory of priority activities and information needs One of NET-TRACK's main features is that it will draw on existing activities and netwo rk of the ECTRI association that includes 17 leading Institutes in Transport research in 15 European countries. By developing and strengthening contacts between different research cultures and laying the foundation for creating common working structures, t he project will contribute to the creation of a European Sustainable surface Transport Research Area, by moving towards a shared vision on scientific and technological issues.
