Objective
DIVA will last two years, and aims at improving gender equal opportunities in science through awareness and sensitisation activities. The general objective is supported by 3 specific objectives, namely: 1. To raise awareness of scientists on the existence of gender stereotypes and sensitise them through quarterly discussion groups in research centres. 2. To sensitise policy/decision makers on the waste of female talents in order to stimulate a debate favouring equal opportunities 3. To sensitise high schoo l female students in order to promote a friendly image of science. These activities will be jointly managed by a team of 7 between experts and technical staff coordinated by an equal opportunity Ambassador who has acquired - over the years - an indisputabl e knowledge, experience and expertise in the field of equal opportunities and gender mainstreaming in Science. The decision of the team will be backed up by an external Advisory Board composed by 3 experts. The following activities will be implemented in o rder to achieve the above mentioned objectives: Objective 1: Quarterly discussion groups in research centres and universities with scientists to enhance the debate on equal opportunities in science. Objective 2: Organisation of two press confe rences Dialogue strengthening amongst equal opportunities stakeholders Objective 3: A video (DVD format subtitled in Italian and English) with 4-5 interviews to well-known Italian female scientists to be used during meetings with students. The project final activity is a conference to be held in Rome on june 2007 which will be participated by: journalists, policy and decision makers, students, researchers and 3 Ambassadors from other countries. The conference besides presenting the project activities will also be a Forum to share experiences, lessons learnt and to identify possible and future actions to improve further equal opportunities in Science.
