European localisation exchange centre

Objective

The Localisation Research Centre (LRC) has been the educational, research and infrastructural support centre for the localisation industry in Ireland, one of the world centres of localisation, since 1995. It has an Industrial Advisory Board representing 20 of the world's leading localisation service providers, eContent publishers, software developers, tools developers and training organisations.

The foundations laid by the LRC provided a perfect platform for the European Localisation Exchange Centre (ELECT) to build upon and consolidate its position as the focal point for the multilingual and multicultural digital content industries in Europe. ELECT provides reliable information on best practice, facilitates easy access to know-how and technology, makes available guidelines on linguistic and cultural customisation, and enhances the visibility and recognition of the localisation industry in Europe and world-wide.

The central communication platform for ELECT is http://www.electonline.org(opens in new window). This multilingual site has become the localisation community's online information resource.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
