Objective
In the sawmill industry and wood processing the classification of wood boards is a difficult task with great importance put on product quality. Near infrared and visible spectra of wood contains relevant information for wood grading. The objective of the project is to adapt an existing, inexpensive, near infrared imaging spectrometer and select a suitable classification algorithm for the automatic identification of wood defects like knots, blue stain, resin pockets and oil spots on dusty wood boards
