International Post-Doc Initiative of the Technische Universität Berlin (IPODI)

Objective

The International Post-Doc Initiative of the Technische Universität Berlin (IPODI) aims to promote the career development of experienced female researchers within ERA. IPODI offers in total 21 fellowship positions which will be allocated in three internationally open selection rounds with international peer review. A 24 months employment contract including social security insurance, pension coverage, as well as travel and training allowances will be offered to the successful candidates. IPODI seeks not only to increase the number of women in higher qualification levels of science, in particular in engineering science or natural science – as the Marie Curie Programme do. Above all, its main objective is to prepare highly qualified women for leadership positions in science. Thus, the challenging demand of the European Commission in implementing sustainable gender equality in science shall be realised. On the basis of scientific excellence and innovation – reflected by the excellent research environment of TU Berlin - the fellows are free to choose their own research project in one of the 7 faculties. A transparent selection process guarantees a high quality standard by international peer review. Moreover, intersectoral cooperation will be guaranteed by a close network with the private sector. Fellows will profit from these collaborations and can integrate intersectoral elements to their research career. Mentoring as a cross-generational coalition is another main element of IPODI. Therefore, a senior researcher of TU Berlin will give support as mentor. Qualified staff will ensure an open information policy by managing 3 internationally advertised calls, releasing the selection criteria and communicating the rationale behind the final decisions. IPODI will make a contribution to advancing the scientific potential of female researcher within ERA by combining intersectorality, mentoring and transdisciplinarity.
