Expanding Health Data Interoperability Services

Project description

Networking for health, ageing well and inclusion - Sustainability of EU wide info-structure and collaborative governance

This TN aims to address the challenge of moving from a set of point-solution pilots to a large-scale deployment of cross-border facilities that support Member States in delivering their local eHealth plans and providing cross-border care. In particular, the objective of the Network is to maintain and expand already existing available infostructure resources and act as a catalyst for real operational use by Member States. The initial focus of EXPAND will be to secure the epSOS pilot services or similar services from other mature pilot projects, up to the launch of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and foresee a proper handover to it.
EXPAND will integrate relevant recommendations from epSOS and Semantic Healthnet and will be guided by the decisions taken by the eHealth Network (eHN). Work from Trilium Bridge project as well as ongoing work at eHGI will be taken into account.
Work will be divided into 5 WP, each with strong leadership as resources are scarce and waste of energy in each productive task/deliverable is not acceptable. The objectives of WP1 are establishment of the TN's governance, overall coordination of network activities and design and implementation of the network communication tools. Under WP1, events for large stakeholders will be organized namely with patients association, medical societies and industry; WP2 will deal with dissemination; WP3 will identify a common vision and appropriate assets to support cross border eHealth services consistent with priorities set by eHN. WP4 will focus on the assessment and quality control of interoperability assets; WP5 will ensure the proper handover to CEF.In order to achieve its objectives EXPAND brings together 20 national/regional health authorities and competence centers for semantic interoperability, SDOs and EU-supported initiatives such as EuroRec, SHN, PARENT and EN13606 Association. Also the work of TN will actively involve consultation with a wide range of relevant stakeholders with expertise in development, assessment, dissemination and use of elements of an EU wide infostructure.
