Objective
The overall objective of the CYMOCEN project is the development of a Cyprus Mobility Centre. This initiative reflects the needs of Cyprus today identified following a mapping exercise of the existing services. The limited research activity in Cyprus and its small geographical size, dictate that a single Mobility Centre will suffice in providing the required services to researchers. It is proposed that the Research Promotion Foundation (RPF), the designated Bridgehead Organisation of Cyprus, takes up the role of the sole Cyprus Mobility Centre. The main reason behind this decision is that the RPF has the necessary expertise, mechanisms and contacts to provide high standard services to both foreign researchers wishing to take up a research post in Cyprus but also Cypriot scientists wishing to move abroad. The Cyprus Mobility Centre will work in close cooperation with all relative information providers in Cyprus, in order to ensure up-to-date information is continuously at the disposal of all interested parties. It will also strive to raise awareness amongst the Cypriot public regarding research-related matters and aim to actively participate in the European Network of Mobility Centres. It is strongly believed that the Cyprus Mobility Centre will live up to expectations and will indeed be viable following the completion of the Commission's three year support.'
