Around the Caspian: a Doctoral Training for Future Experts in Development and Cooperation with Focus on the Caspian Region

Research stay in non-EU partner

All 15 ESRs will spend a period in a non-EU university. The aim of this stay is to give the ESRs exposure to perspectives on the Caspian region from outside the EU. The non-EU universities will provide sufficient support and arrange sufficient interactions with colleagues and other PhD students to make this stay a rewarding and useful one.

Articles will be written for the mass media At each training workshop there will be one event aimed at the wider public, drawing on both the experts attending the workshop and the ESRs

Fieldwork

Each ESR will conduct fieldwork, timing, length and location, dependent on individual plans. ESRs will gain cultural understanding and/or language skills in addition to progressing their individual plan.

Policy Briefs

Each ESR and the supervisor pair will produce a minimum of one policy brief drawing on their research but aimed at highlighting its relevance and evidence for policy-makers, and written in a style which is useful for them. The training programme will include sessions on writing for policy-makers. These policy briefs will be disseminated by the project and hosted on the website.
