Advanced Automated Process for Low Cost Efficient Custom Mosaic Manufacturing

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - MOSART (Advanced Automated Process for Low Cost Efficient Custom Mosaic Manufacturing)

Período documentado: 2014-10-01 hasta 2015-01-31

Despite being popular adornments in art and architecture, mosaics are arduous to create by hand thus making it expensive, time consuming and difficult to manufacture especially applications in large areas and spaces. Artaic aims at rejuvenating an age-old art form through advanced robotics manufacturing in order to bring it to mass- customization. Artaic’s user-centered proprietary Human-Robot collaborative work cell and Computer Aided Design software enable a quick and efficient design and manufacturing of high quality affordable custom mosaics with exceptional art value.
During the Ph1 project Artaic conducted a Technical Feasibility on the advanced robotics manufacturing of mosaics, as well as an in depth Market analysis including: Customer Analysis, Competitor Analysis, Market Barriers and SWOT Analysis. Artaic also assessed the Developments and Implementation Plan (Operations, Employment, Risk analysis). The Commercialization Plan focusing on Marketing and Communication and Sales Forecast (Financial Plan: Profit and Loss, Cash Flow, and Break Even Point) has been properly elaborated. Moreover, an in depth assessment on the IP Management Strategy (Freedom To Operate, Patent Application assessment, etc.) has been carried out.
In conclusion and in parallel with the promising results obtained on the technical assessment, Artaic could obtained a strong traction and approval with all contacted suppliers and several architecture firms and ceramics producers . The Business sustainability has been demonstrated by detailed financial analysis, and Artaic has decided to start the EU production in London.
Physical mosaic tilings inspired from photographs and drawings constructed from digital blueprints.
5x increase in production throughput over current state-of-the-art mosaic manufacturing technology, while enhancing tile placement accuracy, with large savings in design time, tile packing, and mosaic sheet fitting.
This technology will enable a breakthrough pricing structure that is 75% lower than the competition (based on manual and rudimentary automation processes).
