Deliverables

Prototype biological test

Measures of the biosensor prototype will be initially validated in fish metabolic chambers before use in a wide range of physiological conditions and species.

Validation of the procedures for germ stem cell isolation, cryopreservation and transplantation in normal trout and carp lines. Integration of the procedures in WP3 standards

Comparison of disease to paraclinical parameters

The Deliverable will describe biomarkers in the early stage of infection, and relate them to the risk of developing mild or severe disease. The hypothesis is, that at an early stage of the pathogenesis, before onset of disease, an infection initiates a change in the pathophysiology of the fish e.g. by triggering inflammation, and that the magnitude of this, is linked to the virulence of the pathogen.

also at M48 and M59 Complete reports on each brokerage event will be provided, including attendance profiles, presentations and event descriptions. Feedback assessment, based on completed templates, will be included in the reports.

TNA Handbook

Effect of early life nutrition in trout

The Deliverable will describe the long-term effect of early growth retardation due to restricted feeding and low protein supply, on future performance and metabolic parameters related with protein utilisation and intermediary metabolism in juveniles when confronted against a diet with suboptimal vs optimal protein level. The adaptation status of juvenile fish with restricted vs ad libitum feeding history will be described through HPI axis, gill and skin analysis.

Effect of water oxygen level during early life stages in trout

The Deliverable will describe the long-term effect of early hypoxia on growth potential, FI, feed efficiency and metabolic parameters related to oxygen use when fed high vs low oxygen demanding diets. Further, it will describe long-term effect of early hypoxia on aerobic and anaerobic nutrient metabolism parameters in relation to oxygen use and diet composition and adaptation function related to behaviour, gill physiology, and endocrine response and skin health.

Sampling in cages

Evaluation of sampling procedures from large populations in cages in terms of accurate predictions of growth

Effect of early life oxygen concentration in sea bream

The Deliverable will describe effects of low vs high DO in alevins, after which they have been reared at normoxia until juvenile stages. The challenges will be i) growth performance and nutrient utilisation when fed different energy and protein/lipid content (high vs low oxygen demanding diets), and ii) stress susceptibility to hypoxia challenge tests. The effects of hypoxia during early life will be described through behaviour and blood biochemistry, corticocotropic and somatotropic endocrine axes, and mitochondria function and activity.

Effects of internal transfer (cage to tank and between tanks) and sampling on salmon and sea bass, and the effect on acclimation time
