Resumen del contexto y de los objetivos generales del proyecto

The objective of Enair is upscale the aerodynamic and mechanical design of the key elements of the 10 kW wind turbine to a 40kW wind turbine, with emphasis on:
o Upscale the design of the components of 10kW turbine to obtain the operational design to 40 kW turbine.
o Rotor: must rotate at 60 rpm when the wind velocity is impinging over the blades at 12 m/s
o Blades decrease the weight 20%.
o CAD design, will be performed in an iterative process to close the optimal upgrade.
o 40 kW nominal power at 12 m/s of wind velocity according to international standard IEC-61400-2

Changing the concept of the generator to a fractional slot topology with concentrated coils, the main objectives would be:
o Reduce the magnet volume by at least 10%.
o Reduce the copper weight by at least 8%.
o Obtain an efficiency greater than 90%.

Maximum production costs of 52.739 €, through:
• Decrease the cost of the pitch control in a 15%
• Rotor redesign to reach 50 RPM at 8,6M/S to produce more than 40kW
• Reduce the manufacturing costs of blades 20% and nacelle 11%
• Installed price for the end user of 2.250 €/kW
• Energy performance >40%
• Payback period < 6 years for locations where wind velocity >5 m/s
• Reduce the magnet volume by at least 8%. Thus, the magnet cost reduction is around 22%.
• Reduce the copper weight by at least 8%. So the copper cost has been reduced by 46%.
• Obtain efficiency greater than 90%. Exactly efficiency values around 90%-92% have been obtained.

Avances que van más allá del estado de la técnica e impacto potencial esperado (incluida la repercusión socioeconómica y las implicaciones sociales más amplias del proyecto hasta la fecha)

• Seen the evolution of the prototype of 40kW, we think with an excellent product, which generates lots of energy and it is very safe, thanks to the active and passive systems developed . The result of this has been applied for patent prototype model . . Currently , this model has generated great interest among the Europe market.
• Regarding generator design, at the moment with 40 kw prototype, we are on good way to achieve an efficient and competitive product in price for the market in to make it more attractive this option against low-carbon electricity.
• The main conclusions we can draw, on the part of the certifying body, about the 40kW prototype are as follows:

“In the tests and tests carried out on the machine, we have determined that all the control and electrical systems have functioned correctly, allowing the flow of energy to be channelled and managed under conditions of up to -10 degrees. It has also been evaluated that aerodynamically both the blades and the design of the nacelle, are optimal for the development of power demand, even allowing to extract peaks of power 40% higher than the initial design. As point to improve what we determine is that mechanical system of variable pitch must be reinforced in several points that are having excessive wear.”
