It describes the potential of MPI for data centric computing and includes an analysis of MPI limitations that might prevent MPI from achieving Exascale/Exabyte performance. It compares the different approaches and investigates a hybrid solution that includes different features from various programming models. The assessment of different programming model effectiveness will be based on evaluation results of selected SAGE applications.
