Dual Active Mode Component

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - DAM Component (Dual Active Mode Component)

Reporting period: 2015-05-01 to 2015-08-31

Several policies have been set in the past few years in order to reduce emissions from different modes of transport. The most straightforward way to reduce emissions from vehicles is to reduce their weight. However, this represents an especially remarkable challenge for manufacturers of recreational vehicles, as current solutions for RV furnishings do not offer an appropriate answer to this problematic.
In this context DAM Component will represent a new generation of lightweight and enduring panels with integrated Smart functionalities for furnishings of recreational vehicles and yachts by our company, based on the 50 years of experience of our company, TECNOFORM, in the sector. These panels are based on a uniquely engineered sandwich-like structure with embedded sensors, which will enable a weight reduction of 30% compared to the lightest materials for this application in the market, and improved mechanical performance (300% higher than said material). Moreover, the incorporation of sensors will provide digital functionalities that will enhance the safety and comfort of the living space, while contributing to reduce maintenance costs.
In order to confirm the feasibility of our project, from TECNOFORM we have carried out a 4-month study focusing our effort on 3 main areas. We have reviewed the technical specifications of DAM Component, tested some new designs and defined a set of tests, parameters and target values that will be used during Phase 2 execution.
We have also prepared a complete Execution Plan for the development of DAM Component products, including planning, organization, risk analysis and budget.
Commercially, we have assessed our target markets, including the competition, to consolidate our marketing strategy. In addition we have performed Freedom-to-Operate analysis, so as to ensure the viability of the future patents we foresee.
Finally, regarding the economic aspects of the project we have updated the estimations and forecasts for the first 5 years of commercialization, based on the market analysis and our marketing strategy.
The market deployment of DAM COMPONENT is predicted for the second quarter of 2018.
Through these new products we expect to impact the industry by fulfilling the needs of RV and yacht manufacturers in terms of weight and mechanical performance, enabling them to comply with stringent environmental legislations, and contribute to the reduction of pollutant gas emissions (between 9% and 15% lower CO2 emissions), while providing end-users with enduring materials that will increase their comfort and enable savings: 0.9-1.5 L fuel saved/100Km, economic savings of up to 5% for every 800 Km covered and minimal maintenance thanks to the embedded sensors.
We expect to expand our current shares and range of customers, and increase our forecasted revenues for 2022 by 28.7%, achieving an accumulated EBITDA of €6.47 million for the first five years of commercialization.
