Spatially Multiplexed Spectrophotometry

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - FAST SPECTRO (Spatially Multiplexed Spectrophotometry)

Reporting period: 2015-11-01 to 2017-04-30

In this project we have analyzed the key issues to be solved in order to advance in the manufacturing and commercialization route of a new label free optical technique named Spatially Multiplexed Spectrophotometry (SMS). This technique allows spectral characterization of surfaces with one order of magnitude better lateral resolution than actual spectrophotometers, and two orders of magnitude shorter analysis time. We have identified three main fields of application of the technology: biophysics, plasmonics and thin film characterization. In order to accelerate the market entry of the technology, we have also performed a market feasibility study of the technology, as well as clarified the intellectual property position. The information gathered along the project has allowed fruitful approaches to different potential partners and investors to advance in the exploitation and final use of the technology. The key invention related to this project has been advanced to PCT/ES2015/070732, priority 08/10/2015, and licensed to the company Mecwins SA for further development and future exploitation. Other non-conflicting exploitation routes through sub-licensing have also been explored.
