DAHDAC project: Disruptive Approach to Highly Distributed Application Creation

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - DAHDAC (DAHDAC project: Disruptive Approach to Highly Distributed Application Creation)

Reporting period: 2015-06-01 to 2015-11-30

The DAHDAC project proposed by Pro Gamma is a feasibility study for the development and commercialization in Europe and the USA of a prototype for a highly innovative development environment called C1B8 and developed by R&D department of Pro Gamma. Pro Gamma is a company that has already been operating in the market of software development tools for over ten years (as its sole business), and it has created a rapid development environment called Instant Developer, which has positioned it as a leader in the Italian market, in addition to acquisition of numerous customers outside Italy. The prototype of the C1B8 environment is a large step forward with respect to Instant Developer and to all other products currently on the market, because it makes it possible to combine a Model-Driven Development approach with mobile, cloud, social, and big data.
The DAHDAC project lasted six months and included three tasks: execution of five pilot projects, definition of the development roadmap for the C1B8 product, and creation of the business plan. The five pilot projects have demonstrated the significant potential of the C1B8 idea, in addition to providing all the information necessary to define the above-mentioned roadmap. The business plan, created in collaboration with Gartner, the leading provider of IT advisory services worldwide, has shown that Europe and the EU alone constitute a formidable potential market for the C1B8 idea. The business plan, with a five-year time horizon, comprises both the plan for completion of the C1B8 development roadmap and the commercialization plan.
The business plan demonstrates that, with appropriate technical, commercial, and marketing actions and with an investment of around EUR 1.5 million, it will be possible to develop the C1B8 prototype and offer it to the US and European markets with a business model that enables a wide and rapid diffusion, with a consequent robust investment return. The product resulting from development of C1B8 will be a platform that enables software developers (independent professionals or software companies of any size) to create mobile-ready applications, with native social features, automatically deployable on a cloud infrastructure and capable of handling enormous volumes of data, with a development cost at least 80% less than with the most popular tools, and without the need for expert developers.
