Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

During the phase 1, CEAE has defined some important points:

During Phase 1 of the SME Instrument, it has acquired a deeper understanding of the techniques that are currently being used for collecting, cutting, and cleaning of the Saffron flowers.

To undertake the second phase of the project, TSR has undertaken during Phase 1 several important milestones, as for example, the incorporation of Saffron sector experts to the project.

Furthermore, SEAC has defined many crucial things for the Project (these have been explained in detail in the feasibility study):

• Modular cutting machine fixed in the place.
• Adaptable moving trays .
• Automation of the lines of trays.
• Control of variables in greenhouses.
• The incorporation to the process of stigmas separation tool from the flower.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

During the phase 1, CEAE has developed the modular machine, and has identified the important points commented in the previopus point.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

CEAE has estimated a large impact in the sector, so at the moment, there is not a similar tool in the Saffron activitities.
