Resumen del contexto y de los objetivos generales del proyecto

The overall goal of this project is to develop a lasting collaboration between top class research teams in Europe and China through fostering progress in the broad area of perovskite optoelectronics. This goal has been realized via a cross-European, trans-continental network, where joint research and training activities have been performed by researchers with different background, including materials science, chemistry, device physics, photophysics, and device engineering. We have covered both device engineering and device physics of a range of perovskite optoelectronic devices, including solar cells, light-emitting diodes, and photodetectors. The combination of complementary expertise, exchange visits and joint workshops/meetings in this project has promoted the exchange of ideas and the transfer of knowledge and skills between the researchers in Europe and China. This has led to significant progress in the research field of perovskite optoelectronics and generation of human resources and new partnerships. The research results generated in this project with a series of dissemination and communication activities have made significant impacts on the scientific community and wider specialist communities as well as the general public. It is expected that the recognition and training of young talent in the development of perovskite optoelectronics will have long lasting benefits both for fundamental research and industry in Europe.

Trabajo realizado desde el comienzo del proyecto hasta el final del período abarcado por el informe y los principales resultados hasta la fecha

This project covers an entire knowledge chain of perovskite optoelectronics, including design, synthesis, processing and characterisation of perovskite materials and films, spectroscopic investigations of perovskite composites, fabrication of efficient and stable planar perovskite solar cells, and development of other emerging perovskite devices such as light-emitting diodes and photodetectors. The combination of the complimentary expertise of the researchers in Europe (Sweden, UK and Italy) and China has enabled significant progress in these aspects. This project has generated 18 scientific papers including 3 Nature family papers. It is worth noting that we have achieved a record efficiency for perovskite light-emitting diodes with the combined expertise from LIU, IIT and Nanjing Tech University. The results generated in this project have also been widely disseminated in national and international conferences to the perovskite optoelectronics community and in social media to wider specialist and non-specialist communities.

A serial of exciting research results has emerged from the support of the PEOPLE project. For example, we have revealed the physics origins of efficiency roll off in perovksite LEDs and provided an effective way to reduce it. We have also developed the first lead-free double perovskite solar cell using the planar structure. These research results are beyond the state of the art and will make great impacts in the research field of perovskite optoelectronics.
Firstly, the research outcomes will boost and promote the research and development of perovskite optoelectronic devices. The applications prospect will attract the attention from industry area since research and applications on optoelectronics become more and more important in the marketplace.
Secondly, the research will also deepen public awareness of optoelectronics device and applications.
Last but not the least, the most important results from this project is the human resources generated. Through implementation of this project, researchers with different backgrounds and expertise are allowed to complementarily exchange knowledge and skills. It is expected that the recognition and training of young talent in the development of novel perovskite optoelectronics will have long lasting benefits for the development of individuals.
