Reporting period: 2015-10-19 to 2016-02-18

The conference was a follow-up of the First Innovative Enterprise Week in Riga and was organized in the framework the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union and of a partnership between the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the framework of the InnovFin Advisory program of the European Commission.

This one-day Innovative Enterprise Conference organized on 10 December 2015 during the Luxembourg Presidency had a very particular focus on Circular Economy.

This meeting has been a success with the attendance of 145 participants as it was the opportunity to address such topics as the political response to the macroeconomic situation, ways to boost growth, jobs and competitiveness through innovation, how the financial instruments, facilities and accompanying measures launched under Horizon 2020 can enhance access to finance for research, innovation and SMEs and also interactions between these financial instruments, etc.
TEAMWORK ensured the good coordination supervising the implementation of the conference, all the logistical activities, services and all staff involved, all deliverables in terms of quality, costs and deadlines.
TEAMWORK designed the visual identity and the layout of all branded conference materials validated by DG RTD (conference kits, signposting, badges, event registration portal, brochure, notepads…).
TEAMWORK was in charge of sending the invitations to the participants and speakers, the registration process, travel and accommodation for the sponsored participant according to EC regulations.
TEAMWORK also selected various local providers from Luxemburg according to quality/price ratio (i.e. catering at the EIB venue, local transfers from the airport/train station, venue to host the gala dinner, catering for the gala dinner, hotel to accommodate sponsored participants and speakers, floral decoration for the evening side-events, musical animation at the gala dinner, etc.) and hired ad-hoc staff: interpreters, hostesses and a photographer.

Third parties have been involved in the project.
Scholz & Friends is a subcontractor of TEAMWORK for the communication activities and has been selected to promote the Innovative Enterprise Conference and has been involved for media services providing press services to journalists that attended the event, media monitoring, development and implementation of a digital media strategy, advertising the conference in international and national diaries.

The services from a rapporteur have been also subcontracted to provide reporting on this Conference, on the basis of laying out the discussions, conclusions and open questions identified during the Conference.
- Follow up event on March 21, 2016 under the Dutch Presidency allowing to continue the innovative process already started in Luxembourg

- Working Groups and Think Tanks like the Dutch FinanCE group have raised interest and have received requests for memberships from international actors. The community of actors in the financial sector that are interested in the field has hence been enlarged.

- Cross border contacts have been made and the European actors have become aware that working groups and think tanks exist and that some actors are quite advanced in their reflections.

- Facilitators like the Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster have been approached by financial institutes that are interested in developing know-how that is needed to finance Circular Economy projects. The request for participating in pilot projects to gain hands on experience has also been brought forward

- The signature of the 4th amendment of Innovfin Delegation Agreement for Circular Economy has enlarged the scope of the Innovfin tools and should allow the financial actors to engage in a larger number of pilot projects

- In general, the awareness raising and the networking between new actors in the field and the ones that have been working on the topic for years will enlarge the community that is willing to develop innovative approaches to financing the circular economy. This will increase the chances for circular economy driven companies to find the required financing and develop their innovative products and/or business cases. This again will allow them to launch and roll out their products and services that will have a positive impact on the economy and the society as a whole.
