Periodic Reporting for period 1 - NedraEV (A lightweight, fast charging, EV platform to be utilised on Car Share and Urban Mobility Systems)
Période du rapport: 2016-04-01 au 2016-08-31
At the heart of this project is the belief that movement of people and goods around a city is a demand that, for many end users, can best be met than with a solution designed to their individual needs than the imposition of a generic bicycle or the historic encumbrances of a conventional automobile – whether electrically powered or not.
We have concluded that due to the market demand for this product we will continue the project onto Phase 2.
Key suppliers and technology providers have been engaged in the manufacture of prototypes and the development of the engineering programme and, collectively, form part of the novelty and innovation that NEDRA brings to this suite of vehicles. A number of potential end user companies, currently market leaders in their fields, are involved in the creation of the final specification and are a main part of the ongoing product specification and development programme.
The key market barrier to entry envisaged for the project is commercial in nature. The challenge is to commercialise a lightweight electric quadricyle platform which offers or exceeds the required performance and efficiency needs whilst maintaining low cost and legislative compliance.
A second barrier is the perception that, due to the current lack of a widespread electric vehicle charging infrastructure, vehicle users will be unable to recharge whilst ‘on the go’.
NedraEV overcomes these barriers and will be launched on the market at the right time to capitalise on this opportunity. This will deliver substantial growth to the NEDRA consortium and grow their turnover more than tenfold by the 5th year following commercial launch.
