Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Context
Softcorner is a European successful start-up created in February 2014, which developed the first European marketplace of second-hand software licenses. Softcorner has created a disruptive business-model offering middle-sized and big companies the opportunity to value (i.e price and resale) their unused software licences.
We offer to companies a very large panel of second-hand standard software products from all main publishers (e.g. Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, Symantec, Autodesk, etc.) 30% to 80% cheaper than their initial values.
This business is legal since the European Court of Justice legalised resale of software unused licences on the secondary market in all EU countries on July 3rd 2012. The ECoJ wanted to generate a new opportunity for European firms by reducing their software budget.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

Objectives
Our main objectives were to create two new innovative products and services for our clients and European ecosystem:
1/ The creation of an internal trading system for major accounts willing to exchange their unused licences (over-licensing) between their various branches, agencies, etc.
2/ The creation of the first quotation system in order to become the second-hand software licences global pricing reference.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

Main results
During the program duration, Softcorner developed a new marketplace with innovative features. This new platform is the basics of the internal trading system for major accounts.
Moreover, Softcorner reached the result to create the 1st quotation & pricing system (the “QUOTUS”, QUOTation for Used Software) for the 2nd hand software market. Now we have the unique database and automatic quotation system for all professional software licences.
