Objective The aim of the project is to define quantitatively the limits and constraints on the production of pig iron with low Si, S and N contents so as to provide blast furnace operators with precise rules for optimisation of furnace operating conditions. The research consists mainly of establishing an algorithm for the relations linking the slag composition to the pig iron composition, blast conditioning and burden.
