Objective
The object of the proposed research project is to develop a new technique for controlling the high-temperature zone of the travelling grate, which will permit optimisation of the process conditions. The technique in question consists of injecting steam into the sinter bed during sintering. It is expected that the characteristics of the high- temperature zone will undergo advantageous modifications as a result of the heat released by the chemical reactions occurring between steam, iron oxides, solid fuel and air.
