Objective The aim of this project is to develop methods for analyzing the evolution in the mechanical condition of a continuous slab-casting machine with a view to predicting modifications that influence the quality of products. On the basis of such an analysis, models designed to monitor this evolution will make it possible to take corrective action before defects can occur. The application of this research to a continuous slab-casting machine will also make it possible to reduce the cost of maintenance work and improve future machine design.
