Objective
The proposed study consists in making a quantitative evaluation of the mean segregation of steels with high weldability, which are intended for heat treatment by using a new microanalysis device adapted specially for this purpose. The data acquired will be used to develop countermeasures, which can be employed in continuous casters to reduce the average amount of segregation (slight reduction, suitable secondary cooling, electromagnetic stirring) and to develop industrial monitoring methods which will enable the quality of the raw casting products to be assessed in real time.
